Pakistani celebrities rally behind Hina Javed’s family, demand justice

Pakistani celebrities have spoken out in support of Hina Javed’s family, calling for justice following the death of the young woman in Rawalpindi on August 20. The case is being investigated as an alleged murder.

Actors including Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Osman Khalid Butt, Iffat Omar and Samar Jafri have expressed solidarity with Hina and her family, condemning violence against women and calling for a transparent investigation.

Hina, who married in 2025, had moved into her in-laws’ home. According to reports, she was found hanging from a wire noose attached to a bathroom shower. Her brother, Fahad, subsequently registered a murder case against her husband, Asghar Imam, her father-in-law and a domestic worker.

The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against the named suspects have not been established in court.

“What kind of world is this? What kind of so-called men are we raising?” she wrote in the comments of a post shared by a page dedicated to raising awareness about Hina’s case.

She also expressed her support for the family, writing: “With you in any which way you need. Cannot imagine your pain and loss.”

Hania Aamir and Samar Jafri shared Instagram stories from the Justice for Hina page, which has documented allegations made by the family regarding abuse Hina allegedly faced at the hands of her husband and in-laws.

According to claims shared on the page, Hina was allegedly beaten, isolated and kept in a separate room. These allegations have not been independently verified.

“You have the power that most of us calling for justice do not — use it, not as a politician, but as a woman who understands exactly what these women’s silence used to sound like,” she added.

Osman Khalid Butt described the reported details of Hina’s death as horrifying and questioned whether the case would ultimately result in justice.

“The details of Hina Javed’s murder are horrifying. There has been outrage, arrests have been made, everyone is unified in the call for justice. But we’ve been here before,” he said.

He stressed the importance of ensuring that Hina’s family did not have to spend years fighting the system to see justice delivered.

The growing response from Pakistan’s entertainment industry has brought attention to the case and the wider issue of violence against women. While the investigation and legal proceedings will determine the facts and establish responsibility, Hina’s family and supporters are calling for a transparent investigation and due process.
