Police piece together final hours, death of Mir Raza Ali

Police investigating the death of Mir Raza Ali have begun piecing together his movements during the final 12 hours of his life, with investigators compiling details of his meetings, phone calls, financial transactions and movements before he was found dead.

According to sources, the young Wafflix owner met a man identified as Ahmed Raja on Sharae Faisal at 5.54pm on July 27. The two discussed an investment of between Rs70 million and Rs80 million, sources said.

At 7.05pm, Ali received a call from a bank informing him that a Rs100 million loan had been approved in his sister's name. The bank had previously rejected a loan application submitted by him, according to sources.

At 8.23pm, a man identified as Farooq Mahmood called Ali and apologised for being unable to invest. Ali had reportedly approached Mahmood several times seeking investment.

At 11.50pm, Ali had dinner with his friend Abdul Razzaq at a kebab house.

Around midnight, he called Sarim Syed and urgently sought a loan of Rs30 million. In a message, he reportedly said that if he did not receive the money, the following morning would be extremely difficult for him. Sources said Ali deactivated his Instagram account at 2.23am and subsequently shut down his Facebook, LinkedIn and Snapchat accounts at 2.42am.

His fiancée called and sent messages at around 3.10am but received no response. She reportedly expressed concern in her messages after noticing that his social media accounts had disappeared. At 3.18am, Ali transferred some money to his parents' accounts, according to investigators.

Sources said he then reached his shop at around 3.42am, where he took a pistol belonging to the security guard and left with it. He returned home at 3.52am with the weapon.

At 4.09am, Ali left his home in an online taxi. During the journey, he switched off his mobile phone at 4.22am, sources said. The taxi reached the location where his body was later found at around 4.35am.

According to investigators, CCTV footage showed Ali walking alone near the scene at 4.38am. The footage was recorded at a point approximately 100 to 150 metres from where his body was found.
