Transfer of Karachi domicile medics to interior Sindh condemned

KARACHI:

The members of the national and provincial assemblies belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) have expressed serious concern over what they described as the discriminatory transfer of doctors and paramedical staff, holding Karachi domiciles, to interior Sindh.

In a joint statement, the lawmakers strongly condemned the decision, describing it as a continuation of what they termed persistent injustice towards the people of Karachi.

They said that since Sindh government dispensaries were handed over to the NGO PPHI, local doctors and paramedical staff in Karachi had allegedly been subjected to systematic pressure and harassment through various measures.

According to the lawmakers, the Health Department, based on a list prepared by the District Health Officer Central, was compelling locally recruited medical professionals to join duties in interior Sindh. They termed the move unjust and discriminatory, arguing that these doctors had been recruited on the basis of their Karachi domiciles.
