Man killed while protecting son

RAJANPUR:

An elderly man was killed and his son injured when the former tried to protect his son during a fight in the suburban area of Kacha Shah.

Rescuers said a fight was underway between the deceased's son, Bilawal, and his opponents over an unidentified issue. Noor Hasan, tried to reconcile the parties, but the unidentified accused attacked him with batons. As a result, Noor Hasan was killed, while his son Bilawal suffered critical injuries. The accused fled the scene. A police spokesman said Shah Wali police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident.

The deceased and his injured son were shifted to the THQ Hospital, where Bilawal was being treated until the filing of this report. The body was later handed over to the family in Tehsil Rojhan after postmortem. Further investigation was underway to trace and arrest the culprits, police said.
