BUREWALA:

A man allegedly shot and killed his wife in Kanwan Wala Chowk area and later staged a fake robbery to conceal the crime, police said on Thursday.

Police said Muhammad Adnan, a resident of Hafiz Colony, Gaggo, had been in a dispute with his wife, Maryam, over her plan to open a stitching centre and start her own business.

Maryam wanted to establish the stitching centre, while Adnan allegedly opposed the idea.

Police said the dispute had caused considerable distress to the woman.

Police said Adnan took Maryam out late at night on the pretext of getting medicine and drove her to an area near Kanwan Wala Chowk, where he allegedly shot her dead.

After the killing, Adnan allegedly attempted to portray the incident as a robbery during which his wife had been shot. However, police said the alleged robbery story did not withstand scrutiny during the investigation.

Gaggo police detained Adnan and registered a murder case against him on the complaint of the victim's father, Muhammad Akram, a resident of Faisalabad.
