Minister slams govt for delay in Imran's hospital transfer

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information and Public Relations Minister Shafi Jan on Thursday accused the federal government of using a review petition against the Supreme Court as a delaying tactic to withhold medical facilities from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder chairman Imran Khan.

In a statement issued here, the provincial minister said timely and adequate medical treatment is Khan's constitutional, legal and fundamental right that cannot be denied. He demanded that Khan be shifted immediately to Shifa Hospital in accordance with the apex court's clear directions.

Jan noted that the PTI had pursued the legal route for the former prime minister's hospital transfer. The Supreme Court responded with unambiguous orders, yet these have not been implemented so far, an outcome he described as regrettable. He warned that if the court's directives are not carried out within the stipulated timeframe, a contempt-of-court petition will be filed.

Anyone creating obstacles to Khan's transfer and treatment under the Supreme Court orders will be held accountable, the minister said. He urged the federal government to refrain from negative politics on the issue and to ensure prompt compliance while respecting legal requirements.
