Olivia Rodrigo secretly helped a University of Alabama student complete her degree by paying $5,000 towards her final semester tuition.

Jamie Causey, 21, graduated from the Tuscaloosa-based university with a degree in public relations.

She revealed that Rodrigo contacted her in early 2025 after seeing a TikTok about her financial struggle with tuition.

Rodrigo initially sent Causey birthday wishes before offering to help with her education.

“Hi girl! I know you don’t know me but I love your videos so much, you seem like the kindest coolest gal and you are such a source of positivity and light in my life!” Rodrigo wrote, according to a screenshot shared by Causey.

The singer then asked, “I watched ur last vid about tuition and I’d love to help out if you were open at all to that? So cool that you are so close to graduating! Do you have a Venmo I could send to?”

A message from Rodrigo’s representative in April 2025 confirmed that the singer had sent Causey $5,000.

The student said she kept the gesture private for more than a year because she wanted to protect its personal significance.

University of Alabama in-state undergraduate tuition was listed at $5,959 per semester.

Causey later thanked Rodrigo, saying, “Olivia, I don’t know if you’ll ever understand how much that means to me.”

She encouraged others to show kindness in everyday ways, adding, “Send the message, pay for the coffee, pay for the car behind you or just smile at someone. You never know the difference it will make.”
