Meera footage resurfaces as maid denies assault

KARACHI:

Pakistani actress Meera has once again come under discussion on social media after CCTV footage appearing to show a confrontation between her and her domestic worker went viral.

The footage, which has been circulating widely on social media, appears to show Meera involved in a heated exchange with her maid and allegedly engaging in a physical altercation.

In an earlier video, the maid, identified as Yasmeen, had accused the actress of physically assaulting her. She had claimed that Meera had beaten her several times and showed what she described as injuries to her face and other parts of her body.

However, a new statement from the maid has now emerged in which she reportedly denies that any such incident took place with Meera.

Police have also clarified that the CCTV footage currently circulating is not recent. According to police, the footage dates back to June 2026 and the matter has already been investigated.

Police said the domestic worker had confirmed that the dispute was resolved mutually and had recorded a statement saying she did not want to pursue any legal action against Meera.

According to sources, the disagreement reportedly began over a salary-related issue. The matter was subsequently settled between Meera and her domestic worker, bringing the dispute to an end.

The resurfacing of the old footage has nevertheless reignited discussion on social media, with the maid's latest statement contradicting some of the allegations made in her earlier video.

Meera has previously made headlines over an alleged altercation involving a makeup artist.

The actress has not yet publicly commented on the latest controversy or the resurfaced CCTV footage.

Meera has appeared in Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi movies. In 2008, she played a lead role in the Lollywood film Salakhain. In 2005, she acted in a joint Indo-Pakistani film, Nazar, with which she debuted in Bollywood.

In 2010, she played the titular role of Husan Ara in Husan Ara Kaun, followed by another role in 'Bichday Toh Ahsaas Hua'. In 2014, she was honoured with Best Actress Award at 3rd Delhi International Film Festival, for her ''out of the box'' performance in psychological thriller film Hotal. In 2016, she announced her first project as a director, which was titled Oscar. The same year she played a role of Naseem Dilruba in the drama Mein Sitara which was nominated for Lux Style Awards.
