A pregnant government schoolteacher and her unborn baby died after she was allegedly not provided timely medical treatment at the Rural Health Centre (RHC) in Bhit Shah, according to her family.
The deceased, identified as Hina Bano, was a primary schoolteacher. According to her relatives, she fell at home, following which her condition deteriorated and she was taken to the RHC Bhit Shah for medical treatment.
The family alleged that Hina remained in pain at the hospital for around two hours, but the medical staff allegedly told them that she was not suffering from any serious problem.
According to the family, when her condition worsened, doctors decided to refer her to Hyderabad. However, she died on the way to Hyderabad. Her unborn baby also died.
Following the incident, Hina's relatives, along with political and social activists and other residents, staged a protest at Allahwala Chowk in Bhit Shah.
The protesters accused the hospital administration and staff of negligence and demanded action against the doctors and other personnel allegedly responsible for the delayed treatment.
They called for a transparent and impartial inquiry to determine those responsible for the deaths, warning that the scope of their protest would be expanded if action was not taken.
