Balochistan govt forms Ziarat attack inquiry commission
The Balochistan government has formally established a high-level inquiry commission to probe the deadly terrorist attack in Ziarat that left 27 police personnel martyred.
Formed under Section 3(1) of the Balochistan Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance, 1969, the panel is launching a comprehensive investigation into the assault on the police post guarding Pumping Station No 3 at Mangi Dam.
In a public notice issued on August 17, the commission called on citizens, eyewitnesses, and anyone possessing relevant documents or information to come forward with testimony regarding the circumstances before, during, and after the incident.
A central objective of the probe is to determine how armed terrorists breached security at the strategic installation, while scrutinising the timeliness and effectiveness of the security apparatus.
The inquiry will evaluate law enforcement readiness, command coordination, operational deployment, and whether the officers on duty were provided adequate counter-insurgency training and equipment.
Investigators are also tasked with examining the exact sequence of events.
