Minor girl's body recovered from Indus River after 9 days
The body of an eight-year-old girl who drowned in the Indus River was recovered nine days after the incident, while a 31-year-old man drowned while bathing in the Phuleli Canal.
According to Rescue 1122 Hyderabad, Zainab, daughter of Naeem Ahmed Chang, drowned on August 7, near the Pathar Point area close to Mehran Bridge on the bypass. The rescue agency's water rescue team had launched a search operation after the incident but could not locate her.
On Sunday, local residents spotted the body of a girl floating in the river a short distance from the spot where Zainab had drowned. They informed Rescue 1122, whose water rescue team reached the location. The girl's family was also called to the site, where they identified the body as that of Zainab.
After completion of the necessary legal formalities, the body was handed over to her family. In a separate incident, a 31-year-old man drowned while bathing in the Phuleli Canal near Bhatti Goth. The deceased was identified as Zameer Ali, son of Parvez Ahmed Jamali, a resident of Jamali Para.
