Five dead, over 100 injured as tourists flock to Tharparkar

Pleasant weather, Independence Day celebrations attract crowds from other regions

Thousands of tourists have flocked to Tharparkar to enjoy the pleasant weather following the recent rains and to celebrate the Independence Day.

Five people lost their lives in separate road accidents and drowning incidents, while more than 105 tourists suffered injuries.

Tharparkar becomes a major tourist destination after the monsoon rains.

Following the recent rainfall and on the occasion of Independence Day, thousands of visitors headed to the region.

Over the past 24 hours, five young men have died in road accidents and drowning incidents while more than 105 tourists were injured.

Four young men were killed on the spot and another was seriously injured when two motorcycles collided at Sanhyasar Stop on the Nokot Road near Mithi.

Rescue personnel shifted the bodies and injured to Civil Hospital Mithi, where the deceased were identified as Mehran Yousuf Laghari, Shaban Jan Mohammad Laghari, Irfan Nahriyo and Risho Kolhi.

Three of the victims were residents of Malkani Sharif in Badin, while one was from Kaloi.

The bodies were handed over to the families, while the seriously injured Anwar Kachhi was referred to Karachi.

Sources at Civil Hospital Mithi and Taluka Hospital Nagarparkar said that more than 105 people were injured in road accidents and brought to the two hospitals over the past two days.

After receiving medical treatment, they were discharged. Officials attributed the accidents to reckless motorcycle riding, heavy traffic on the roads and poor road conditions.

Meanwhile, a young man, Maqsood Nahriyo, from the village of Vesri in Kaloi, drowned while bathing in Maya Dam, located in the Karoonjhar mountains of Nagarparkar. Local residents recovered his body.

No adequate safety or other necessary arrangements have been made for tourists in Nagarparkar and Mithi, despite the heavy influx of visitors following the monsoon rains.

Hotels and guesthouses are fully occupied, while major historical and tourist sites in Mithi and Nagarparkar are witnessing large crowds.
