All set for PS-30 by-election in Khairpur

HYDERABAD:

All is set for the by-election to Sindh Assembly seat PS-30 in Khairpur district today, with frontline candidates from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and an independent candidate in the run.

In the 2024 general elections, the seat was won by PPP candidate Naeem Ahmed Kharal.

However, it fell vacant on June 21 following his death.

Kharal had been elected MPA from the same constituency five times.

This time, the PPP has awarded its ticket to Kharal's nephew, Barrister Asfandyar Kharal, a legal practitioner and graduate of the University of London.

According to PPP sources, party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari personally awarded the ticket to the lawyer.

As many as 254,980 voters are registered in the provincial constituency, including 133,337 male and 121,943 female voters.

A total of 164 polling stations have been set up in the constituency, with 592 polling booths.

The police have declared 64 of these polling stations "very sensitive" and 68 "sensitive."

The constituency comprises Gambat and Sobhodero talukas.
