Free-will marriage couple receives life threats
.

A couple who married of their free will has claimed that they are being harassed and threatened with serious consequences by their family members and alleged land grabbers. The couple has also accused a ruling-party politician of supporting those allegedly involved in the dispute.
Mithal Tunio and Rehana Tunio, residents of Larkana, who contracted a free-will marriage at a Karachi court on June 28, at a press conference at the Malir Press Club on Saturday, alleged that, since their marriage, they have been facing threats to their lives and pressure from members of Rehana's family and people allegedly associated with a land mafia.
Mithal Tunio alleged that the group, allegedly backed by MPA Nadir Magsi, had occupied their two-storey house in Gulshan-e-Rohi, within the jurisdiction of the Alfalah police station.
He further alleged that the same people had earlier demolished his brother's house in Larkana and were now attempting to implicate his family members and relatives in ' fabricated cases'.
The couple said that they had approached the courts and obtained protective orders, but despite the court orders, they continued to face threats and pressure.
The couple has appealed to the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Inspector General of Police Sindh, Chief Minister Sindh, human rights organisations and other relevant authorities to take immediate notice of the situation to protect the couple and their families.
