TIMERGARA:

The Upper Dir district education department has recommended the temporary closure of 18 government schools in border areas for a week from August 15 to 22, citing security concerns and risks to the safety of students and teaching staff amid a recent uncertain situation along the district's borders.

The recommendation was made in an official letter sent by the District Education Officer (Female), Upper Dir, to the deputy commissioner, stating that serious concerns had arisen over the safety of students and teaching staff following the recent security situation in the border areas.

According to the letter, reports submitted by the relevant sub-divisional education officers had identified several schools in the affected border areas as being exposed to potential risks under the prevailing circumstances.

The education department has requested the district administration to allow the schools to remain closed for one week, from August 15 to August 22, 2026, to ensure the safety and security of students and teachers.
