'Investment, exports, jobs on agenda'

Aurangzeb says macroeconomic stability has taken hold, next phase begins

ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Thursday that Pakistan's macroeconomic stability had taken hold and reforms had moved from intent to implementation, as the country marked its 79th Independence Day.

In a message issued on the occasion, he said strengthening fiscal and external fundamentals was contributing to rising economic and investor confidence, adding that Pakistan was entering the next phase of its economic journey.

The minister said the government's focus would now be on accelerating growth, attracting investment, expanding exports, creating jobs and opening greater opportunities for the people.

He said Pakistan was moving forward with renewed confidence, attributing this to improvements in key economic indicators and the implementation of reforms.

Aurangzeb said the country's people remained its greatest strength and most important investment, adding that empowering youth, women, entrepreneurs, farmers, workers, freelancers, innovators and businesses through skills and opportunities would drive future growth.

He said the government aimed to translate stability into growth, reforms into opportunities and economic progress into better living standards.

"There is much more to accomplish, but the direction is clear," he said, stressing that continuity, collective effort and confidence in the country's potential would be critical in sustaining progress.

The finance minister also paid tribute to the vision and sacrifices of the country's forefathers and reaffirmed a commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous and inclusive Pakistan.
