Shalimar Express resumes service after two weeks

Pakistan Railways has decided to resume the Shalimar Express service between Lahore and Karachi from August 14, after the train remained suspended for around two weeks due to flood damage to a railway bridge near Ferozewala.

The railway administration has issued orders to restore the service.

The train previously operated from Lahore to Karachi via Faisalabad. Under the revised arrangement, the train will now travel from Lahore to Karachi via Sahiwal because the Qila Sattar Shah-Musan Kallar railway bridge is damaged by floodwater.

Railways has also approved five stops for the train on its revised route. The Shalimar Express will stop at Kot Lakhpat, Raiwind, Okara, Sahiwal and Sadiqabad railway stations.

The revised route will allow Pakistan Railways to restore service despite the continued closure of the affected bridge.

The resumption of the Shalimar Express is expected to provide relief to passengers travelling between Lahore and Karachi, particularly those affected by the two-week suspension of the service.
