Faisalabad marks Independence Day with patriotic fervour

FAISALABAD:

Pakistan's 79th Independence Day was celebrated in Faisalabad with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm, as citizens renewed their commitment to the country's progress, prosperity and sovereignty.

The main ceremony was held at the Commissioner Complex, where the national flag was hoisted following the sounding of the siren at 7:58am and the national anthem.

Faisalabad Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh, Regional Police Officer Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddique, MPAs Raja Daniyal, Bilal Badar Chaudhry and Uzma Raja, Women Ombudsperson Dr Najma Afzal, Haji Akram Ansari and other political and administrative officials attended the ceremony.

A smartly turned-out contingent of Punjab Police presented a salute, followed by a colourful march-past by Civil Defence volunteers, Boy Scouts, PERA Force, Motorbike Rescue 1122, Suthra Punjab, Parks and Horticulture Agency, WASA, Municipal Corporation and Environmental Protection Agency teams.

Students presented tableaus highlighting national unity, patriotism and the spirit of Pakistan. A large number of citizens, including women, children, senior citizens, religious scholars, traders and government officials, participated while carrying national flags.
