PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information and Public Relations Minister Shafi Jan, in his message on Pakistan's Independence Day, described August 14 as a historic and glorious day in the country's history, saying Pakistan was achieved through the tireless struggle and immense sacrifices of the nation's forefathers under the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He said the nation paid tribute on Independence Day to the great leaders of the Pakistan Movement and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country. Remembering their sacrifices, he said, the nation must renew its resolve to make Pakistan stronger, stable, prosperous and sovereign.

The minister said the youth inspired by the vision of Imran Khan would emerge as the "Shaheens" envisioned by Allama Iqbal and play their role in making Pakistan stronger and self-reliant.

He said the philosophies of Allama Iqbal and Imran Khan focused on building a society based on the rule of law, justice and equal rights for all citizens without discrimination.

Shafi Jan said that, in line with Imran Khan's vision and on the directives of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, the K-P government would achieve the historic target of planting 1.4 million saplings in a single day on Independence Day.

As part of the campaign, extensive plantation activities will be carried out across a large area in Speen Khak. The government has also launched the "Ehsaas Shajarkari Web Portal" to identify plantation sites through GPS, monitor plantation activities and maintain a record of the total number of saplings planted.
