ECP employee's drowning in Soan River sparks probe

Female victim also identified as social media content creator

Significant progress has been made in the case of a 28-year-old woman who drowned in the Soan River, with police investigations revealing that the deceased, Komal Jan, was an employee of the Election Commission of Pakistan as well as a social media content creator and heavy-bike rider.

Police are now investigating whether Komal Jan allegedly jumped from a bridge or accidentally fell into the river while making a video for social media.

According to police sources, 28-year-old Komal Jan worked as an assistant at the Election Commission of Pakistan and was also active on social media. She had a TikTok account titled "Ride with Komal", where she shared content related to her heavy-bike riding.

Police said Komal Jan was seen wearing a helmet in her bike-riding videos and, on the day of the incident, had also reached a private housing society on her heavy bike.

Police initially received information about the incident through a call to emergency helpline 15. The caller claimed that the woman had jumped from the bridge. However, instead of treating the claim as conclusive, police are investigating both possibilities - alleged suicide and an accidental fall into the water while shooting content for TikTok or other social media platforms.

According to police sources, Komal Jan's mobile phone was recovered from her handbag, which was found with the bike. Police are now searching for the person who first reported the incident and possible eyewitnesses to establish what happened during the final moments before her death.

Komal Jan's body was handed over to her heirs after a post-mortem examination. Police said the post-mortem report would help determine the actual cause of death.

The family does not want further police proceedings, but police have broadened the scope of the investigation to cover all possible aspects of the incident.
