Freedom train chugs off from Karachi for Thar

A train carrying the colours and traditions of Sindh's diverse culture set off from Karachi Cantt Station for Thar on Thursday as the province prepared to celebrate Independence Day with a special journey through the desert region.

Sindh Culture and Tourism Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah flagged off the Freedom Train, which is being operated as a special version of the Desert Safari Train.

Pakistan Railways Deputy Divisional Superintendent Operations Hamid Farooq Qureshi and other railway officials were also present on the occasion.

The train is scheduled to reach Thar on Thursday evening and will take part in Independence Day celebrations at various locations, including the Zero Point, on August 14 before returning to Karachi on Friday evening.
