13 face case over Samanabad gas blast

FAISALABAD:

Police have registered a case against 13 people, including senior gas company officials and two contractors, over a gas-leak explosion in Samanabad that killed three people and left four others injured.

The case was registered under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Muhammad Zain, a resident of Masoodabad, Samanabad.

Those nominated include general manager, Deputy Chief Development Mian Nadeem, Senior Engineer Muhammad Zaheer, Sub-Engineer Gul Faraz, Sui gas employee Malik Shahbaz alias Billa and contractors Shahid and Tanveer, along with other employees.

According to the complainant, a new underground gas pipeline had been laid near the main entrance of his house about 10 days before the incident.

He alleged that the pipeline developed a gas leak despite complaints made to the contractors.
