ASI arrested for taking bribe
The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) for allegedly accepting a Rs50,000 bribe from a citizen in connection with a police case in Factory Area police limits on Wednesday.
A case involving a relative of the complainant, Muhammad Usman, had been registered at Factory Area Police Station and the parties had subsequently reached a reconciliation. However, ASI Muhammad Usman allegedly kept the case pending and demanded a bribe in the name of the station house officer (SHO).
On the direction of the ACE Sargodha director, a raid was conducted by the deputy director and the ASI was allegedly caught red-handed while receiving Rs50,000.
The accused was shifted to the ACE Sargodha office, where a case was registered against him. Officials said the investigation had been widened and would also examine the alleged involvement of the Factory Area SHO.
