Action ordered against brandishing arms

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana has ordered strict action against the display of weapons, firing into the air and the so-called "Dala culture" of using private armed guards for intimidation.

Chairing a meeting, he said a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against elements attempting to disrupt law and order. He also ordered intensified action against proclaimed offenders and habitual criminals.

The CCPO stressed that timely registration of FIRs was the right of every citizen and directed officers to ensure prompt redressal of public complaints and delivery of justice.

Meanwhile, the traffic police plan to.deploy additional personnel around Independence Day celebration venues, Greater Iqbal Park, Wagah and other historical and recreational sites to facilitate citizens.

The traffic police will take action against one-wheeling, reckless driving, racing, blockades and road rage.

Cases will be registered against those removing motorcycle silencers or making illegal modifications. Mechanics involved in illegally modifying motorbikes will also be booked besides those caught performing one-wheeling.

Temporary checkpoints will be set up at various locations to control unruly crowds and lawbreakers during the celebration.

The city traffic police head warned that if anyone under the age of 18 was found driving, the motorcycle, car or rickshaw would be impounded for three days.

The CTO urged citizens to avoid activities that could endanger their lives or those of others.
