The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested three men in connection with a suspected honey-trap and cyber-blackmailing network.
The arrests were made during a raid in Basti Saleh Mahaye, Multan by a team acting on information about the group allegedly targeting people through social media.
The suspects, Dil Hassan, Umar Saeed and Umair Hassan, allegedly used fake social media identities to establish contact with victims before moving conversations to WhatsApp. They then made video calls, obtained private photographs or videos and used the material to threaten victims and demand money.
Investigators found evidence indicating that the group might have collected millions of rupees through blackmailing. Financial transactions linked to the suspected activity were being examined.
Three mobile phones were seized from the suspects. An initial forensic examination reportedly found multiple accounts, photographs, videos and other digital material that the investigators were analysing.
