'House of the Dragon' season 4 needs to answer these major mysteries

With House of the Dragon heading into its fourth and final season, the Targaryen civil war still has several major mysteries left to resolve.

The HBO prequel has already made significant changes to George R R Martin's Fire & Blood, leaving viewers with plenty of questions about how the remaining story will unfold. 

One of the biggest questions concerns Aegon II's ultimate fate. After surviving Rook's Rest and returning to the war with Sunfyre, Aegon remains a major threat to Rhaenyra. His next moves and eventual downfall will be among the most important parts of the final season.

The fate of Daeron Targaryen is another major storyline to watch. The youngest son of Alicent and Viserys has finally become an important part of the conflict, with his role in the Battle of Tumbleton setting up potentially devastating consequences for the Greens.

There is also the question of Alys Rivers and what her mysterious visions ultimately mean. Her connection to Daemon and her supernatural abilities have remained deliberately ambiguous, leaving the final season with an opportunity to explain more about the character and her place in the larger story.
