Pakistan stars rise in ICC Women’s T20I rankings after Sri Lanka series

Individual performances in Dambulla bring notable ranking gains for players from both sides

Pakistan’s consolation victory over Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I has helped several of their players move up the latest ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings.

Spinner Nashra Sundhu was the biggest mover for Pakistan, climbing one place to eighth in the T20I bowling rankings after taking 1-17 in the final match in Dambulla.

The left-arm spinner was among Pakistan’s leading performers with the ball throughout the three-match series, finishing with three wickets at an economy rate of 6.72.

Her teammate Tuba Hassan also made progress, moving up three places to 48th in the bowling rankings. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu was another notable climber, gaining five places to reach 36th.

Sri Lanka also celebrated a rise in the T20I batting rankings, with Imesha Dulani moving one place to 22nd.

The right-hander was named Player of the Series after scoring 123 runs at an average of 61.50 across the three matches. Her consistent performances played a key role in Sri Lanka’s series success.

Pakistan’s Shawaal Zulfiqar scored even more runs during the contest, with the 21-year-old accumulating 132 across the three games. Her performances earned her a three-place rise to 49th in the latest batting rankings.

There was also movement in the all-rounders’ list, with Sri Lanka’s Kavisha Dilhari climbing one place to 13th.

Dilhari finished the series as the leading wicket-taker and added two wickets in the third T20I, although Pakistan went on to secure victory in the final match.

The result gave Pakistan a consolation win after Sri Lanka had already taken an unassailable lead in the three-match series.

The latest rankings reflect the individual contributions from both teams, with Pakistan’s bowlers and batters making gains despite Sri Lanka winning the series, while several Sri Lankan players also improved their positions following strong performances in the contest.
