Cloudburst ravages Lower Chitral

.

CHITRAL, KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA:

Heavy rains once again triggered flash flooding in the areas of Broz and Gumbas Gol streams in Lower Chitral. As a result, the remaining portion of Gumbas Bridge was also swept away by the floodwaters.

Flood debris was scattered across the road, forcing the Chitral-Peshawar Road to be closed to traffic. A petrol station was also damaged by the floodwaters.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has started clearing the road using heavy machinery. The flash flood also blocked roads in Baroz Gol and Sheedi village, disrupting road connectivity and cutting off traffic in the affected areas.

The disasters have severed both physical and digital lifelines, snapping the main fiber-optic link to deny internet access and leaving thousands of stranded residents at the mercy of harsh elements without food, shelter or communication.

The scale of the destruction spans the vast geography of the district, stretching from Sheshi Koh Valley and Drosh town in Lower Chitral district all the way to Mastuj in Upper Chitral district.
