Three children sent with mother on LHC order

.

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered three children be taken from their father and sent with their mother.

The order on a habeas corpus petition followed emotional scenes at the court premises where the children insisted on going with their paternal grandmother and aunt.

Justice Sadiq Mehmood Khurram issued the order while hearing the petition filed by Nida Mahmood for recovery of her children.

During the hearing, the petitioner's counsel told the court that her husband had allegedly subjected her to physical violence, forced her out of their home and taken custody of the children.

She submitted that the children could not live without their mother and requested the court to hand them over to her.

After hearing the arguments, the court ordered that the children be handed over to their mother.

The children's paternal aunt reportedly maintained that their mother had left them and gone away.

Following intervention by police officials, the mother left the premises with the children.
