WASA tube-well operator strangled to death
A Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) tube-well operator was allegedly strangled to death by a fellow employee in Chak Jhumra over suspicions that the victim had reported his frequent absence from duty to senior officials.
Police said a murder case was registered on the complaint of Qamar Hussain, brother of the deceased.
The complainant, who works for a security agency and was on leave, said his brother, Ehtisham Ashraf, was employed as a tube-well operator with WASA.
The suspect, identified as Rizwan alias Gullo, son of Gulfam and a resident of Chak 112-JB, was also working as a tube-well operator.
He also ran an egg-selling business and allegedly remained frequently absent from duty.
Police said the suspect suspected that Ehtisham had complained to senior officials about his absence. The alleged dispute reportedly led to an assault during which the suspect strangled Ehtisham and fled the scene.
Police shifted the body for post-mortem examination and later handed it over to the family.
A case was registered under murder charges and raids were being conducted to arrest the suspect.
Police said both the suspect and the deceased were WASA employees.
