Two Shangla miners die in Balochistan

Two labourers from Shangla have died in separate accidents in Balochistan's coal mines. Their bodies were brought to Shangla and laid to rest in local graveyards.

The deaths, which occurred a day earlier, have plunged the bereaved families and the wider area into mourning.

Muhammad Farooq, a resident of Faizabad Alpori, died while working in the Basti Khel mine. His heirs claim he was overcome by gas inside the mine. Mine management, however, has attributed the death to a heart attack.

Separately, Lal Zamin, son of Ghulam Muhammad and also a resident of Shangla, was killed in an accident at a coal mine in Quetta. News of his death triggered scenes of grief among family members and relatives in their native area.

Heirs and local residents have called for transparent and impartial investigations into both incidents so that the true causes of the deaths can be established.

They said that if Muhammad Farooq died from gas exposure or due to negligence in safety arrangements, those responsible must face legal action.

Even if the death is confirmed as a heart attack, the family pointed out that Farooq died while on duty and is therefore entitled to all legal dues and compensation.
