Fake fertiliser network busted

Authorities recover 1,244 bags of fake DAP worth Rs20 million

MULTAN:

The Punjab Agriculture Department has busted a network involved in the alleged manufacture and sale of counterfeit fertiliser in Gujrat, recovering 1,244 bags of fake DAP worth around Rs20 million.

According to a department spokesperson, the seized DAP was packed in counterfeit packaging and was allegedly being prepared for sale to farmers. Officials launched legal proceedings against those involved in the manufacture and packaging of the fake fertiliser.

A case was registered under the Fertilizer Control Act 2025, while one suspect was arrested at the scene.

The Agriculture Department said it was pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against the manufacture, storage and sale of counterfeit fertilisers and pesticides.

The spokesperson said strict action was being taken to ensure the availability of quality agricultural inputs and protect farmers from the harmful effects of substandard and counterfeit products.

He warned that the crackdown would be intensified and no person involved in manufacturing, storing or selling fake fertilisers or agricultural pesticides would be spared.
