Mysterious shooting leaves father of two dead

KARACHI:

A mysterious shooting incident near KPT Ground in Kemari claimed the life of a young father of two on Sunday.

Police have launched a multi-angle investigation, including suicide and murder, into the case, according to Station House Officer (SHO) Liaquat Ali.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Jackson police station near Pathan Mosque by KPT Ground.

Upon receiving information, police reached the scene and shifted the body to Civil Hospital, where the deceased was identified as 26-year-old Sohail Khan, son of Afreen Khan.

SHO Liaquat Ali stated that preliminary findings point toward suicide. However, police are not ruling out other possibilities.

Investigation revealed that Sohail was the father of two children and had been facing marital discord with his wife. She had filed a khula petition in court, with a hearing scheduled for Monday.

According to police, Sohail had gone to the location in an attempt to reconcile with his wife when an argument broke out between the couple.

Eyewitnesses told investigators that after the quarrel, Sohail, allegedly distraught, shot himself. Police noted, however, that no pistol was recovered from the scene—only a spent bullet casing was found. This has left it unclear whether the death was a suicide or a homicide.
