Drake hosts Stake anniversary stream with $1m giveaway and takes aim at rap rivals

Drake marked Stake’s anniversary with a livestream featuring a $1 million giveaway, a 20-versus-1 speed-dating segment and remarks directed at several fellow rappers.

The stream included Lena The Plug, while Drake selected three women to receive major gifts. Jordyn Lucas received a Birkin bag and $25,000, while Lena The Plug was given $25,000 and a trip.

Another participant reportedly received a house for her mother.

The broadcast also produced several unexpected moments, including Lena removing her wedding ring after a hug with Drake and the rapper barking on command for a goth contestant.

The stream reportedly became the most-watched broadcast in the world at one point.

Drake also used the occasion to address his recent music output and suggested his rivals should be cautious about responding.

“These guys are dropping albums, like hello and goodbye, and careful with that reply cause the pen isn’t dry.”

Akademiks suggested Drake may have been referring to Lil Yachty after the rapper mentioned celebrating Stake’s 10th birthday “on a yacht, even though I hate boats”. Drake denied that the comment was a diss.

He also appeared to reference Jay-Z and Roc Nation, saying, “GGs the ROC NATION subpoenas about to be cleared.”

The remarks came as Drake celebrated a strong period commercially, with three projects released and ICEMAN performing strongly on the Billboard charts.

The rapper’s comments add another chapter to his ongoing public exchanges with other artists.
