Rs6.55m looted in armed robbery at Edhi Centre

KARACHI:

Four armed robbers stormed an Edhi Centre in Sohrab Goth and fled with more than Rs6.5 million in cash, prompting police to launch an investigation into the major robbery.

According to the FIR registered at Samanabad Police Station on the complaint of Edhi Centre employee Mazhar Abbas, the four suspects arrived at the centre on two motorcycles at around 4pm on Saturday.

Three of the suspects entered the centre while the fourth remained outside to keep watch, the complainant told police.

The suspects allegedly brandished weapons, seized cash kept at the centre and escaped with Rs6,549,597.

Police registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and arrest the suspects. Investigators are also collecting evidence, including material that could help establish the identities of the robbers and trace the motorcycles allegedly used in the crime.

Police officials are examining available evidence and other leads as part of the investigation.
