CM orders post-monsoon buildings' survey

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered a survey of all dilapidated buildings in every city of the province immediately after the monsoon season.

Chairing a meeting, she ordered early completion of the Punjab Development Programme (PDP) Phase-I. Deputy commissioners from across the province attended the meeting via video link.

The chief minister directed authorities to submit a report on sewerage and drainage projects and reviewed progress on the PDP schemes in Vehari, Burewala, Tandlianwala, Jaranwala, Jalalpur Jattan, Sambrial, Muridke, Khudian, Kabirwala, Chak Jhumra, Bhalwal and Attock.

The meeting also reviewed projects in Kamalia, Toba Tek Singh, Gojra, Ali Pur Chattha, Chichawatni, Daska, Layyah, Sillanwali, Wazirabad, Bahawalnagar and Mailsi.

The chief minister ordered the compilation of public feedback on the programme.

Progress reports on projects in Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Rawalpindi and Sialkot were presented.

The meeting was informed that underground storage tanks had been made operational in 29 cities, while construction was under way in 21 others.

She expressed satisfaction over the completion of rainwater drainage in Gujranwala within six hours despite record rainfall.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said newly installed sewerage systems had led to a marked improvement in drainage from several cities.
