Lydia Peckham lands mystery role in Nintendo and Sony’s 'The Legend of Zelda' film

Lydia Peckham joins Nintendo and Sony’s The Legend of Zelda movie after reuniting with director Wes Ball

Lydia Peckham has joined the cast of Nintendo and Sony’s highly anticipated live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, reuniting with director Wes Ball following their collaboration on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Sources confirmed that the New Zealand actress has been cast in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie, although details about her character remain undisclosed. Representatives for the studio declined to comment, and Peckham’s representatives were unavailable for confirmation.

The live-action video game adaptation completed production in April 2026, but plot details have been kept under wraps. The film has recently revealed several major casting updates, including Sam Neill, Dichen Lachman, Yvonne Strahovski and Uli Latukefu.

Latukefu will portray the iconic villain Ganondorf, while Lachman is reportedly playing Impa, the trusted bodyguard and advisor to Princess Zelda, played by Bo Bragason. Strahovski is believed to portray a queen character, while Neill’s role has not yet been revealed.

The film stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link opposite Bragason’s Princess Zelda. Wes Ball is directing The Legend of Zelda from a screenplay draft by T.S. Nowlin. Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad are producing, with Sony Pictures co-financing and distributing the project.

Based on Nintendo’s globally successful video game franchise, The Legend of Zelda follows warrior Link and Princess Zelda as they battle to protect the magical kingdom of Hyrule from Ganon. The franchise, created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, has sold more than 150 million copies worldwide since launching in 1986.

Peckham recently appeared in projects including Nuremberg, Robin Hood and Prime Video’s action comedy The Wrecking Crew. She also completed filming Netflix’s The Kennedys, where she plays Rosemary Kennedy.

The Legend of Zelda is scheduled to release in cinemas on May 7, 2027.
