Uli Latukefu cast as Ganondorf in Nintendo's 'The Legend of Zelda' film

Uli Latukefu joined Sony and Nintendo's live-action 'The Legend of Zelda' as Ganondorf in reported multi-picture deal

Australian actor Uli Latukefu has reportedly been cast as Ganondorf in Sony and Nintendo's live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, marking the latest major casting announcement for the highly anticipated video game film.

According to Deadline, Latukefu will portray the franchise's main antagonist, the powerful warlock king Ganondorf, who seeks to conquer the kingdom of Hyrule and defeat its protectors, Link and Princess Zelda.

The report also states that the actor has signed a multi-picture deal, suggesting the character could feature beyond the first film.

Latukefu's casting follows the previously announced leads, with Bo Bragason set to play Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth taking on the role of Link.

The production has largely kept its casting under wraps, making Latukefu's reported involvement the first significant addition since the lead actors were revealed.

Sony Pictures and Nintendo first announced the live-action adaptation in 2023. Wes Ball, known for the Planet of the Apes franchise, is directing the film, while Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and producer Avi Arad are serving as producers. T.S. Nowlin wrote the latest draft of the screenplay.

The Legend of Zelda is scheduled to be released in cinemas on May 7 2027.

Created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, The Legend of Zelda debuted in 1986 and has become one of Nintendo's most successful franchises.

The series follows Link and Princess Zelda as they battle the evil warlord-turned-demon king Ganon to protect the land of Hyrule.
