Police in Khuzdar have registered a case against four men in connection with the murder of retired schoolteacher Master Inayatullah Jattak, father of Asma Jattak.
The FIR includes charges of murder, criminal intimidation, use of lethal weapons and rioting.
According to Khuzdar City Police Station SHO Munir Ahmed Jattak, Inayatullah Jattak was shot dead near his home in the Shahzad City area of Khuzdar on Tuesday. The case was filed on the complaint of the deceased's son, police constable Hameedullah, who is also Asma Jattak's brother.
In his statement, Hameedullah said his father was on his way to the mosque to give the call to prayer when the accused, Zahoor Ahmed Jamalzai, Nadir Magsi, Shafi Muhammad Jamalzai and Zafarullah, who were already waiting in a vehicle in the street, opened indiscriminate fire, killing him on the spot.
The FIR further records that the main accused had earlier threatened the family, warning that if Asma's marriage was not arranged with him, they should prepare a shroud for their son and that he would not spare the father either. Hameedullah stated that the shooting took place only about two hours after Asma Jattak released a video statement on social media.
