LAHORE:

Investigators probing the murder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Abdullah Tahir have claimed that his driver had been honey-trapped to obtain information about his travel and security arrangements.

According to sources, the murderers had carried out detailed planning and sought to monitor the victim's routine.

The sources claimed that the killers had used the woman social media content creator to allegedly honey-trap the driver, Asghar.

She had established contact with the driver through TikTok around two months before the murder and gradually developed a relationship through which she allegedly obtained information about Tahir's daily routine and movements.

According to the sources, the woman was on a video call with the driver after Tahir arrived at a clinic where he was attacked. Investigators suspect the call was used to confirm that the victim was present at the place and no security guard was with him.

After receiving this information, gunmen who had been waiting on Gurumangat Road reached the clinic and opened fire, killing Tahir.

The investigators also claimed that the killers had used a drone camera and other technological means to conduct surveillance of the victim and assess his security before the attack.

The sources said the links between the woman, the shooters and the planners of the attack were being investigated. Digital evidence and phone records are also being analysed.
