Sports galore planned across Sindh for Aug 14

The Sindh government has decided to organise sports events, flag-hoisting ceremonies and cake-cutting functions across all divisions and districts to mark Independence Day and Defence Day.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar, where key arrangements for August 14 and September 6 events were finalised. Secretary Sports Munwar Ali Mahesar and Director Sports Asad Ishaq briefed the meeting on preparations.

The minister directed all District Sports Officers (DSOs) and officials of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department to complete arrangements on an urgent basis.

According to officials, flag-hoisting and cake-cutting ceremonies will be held across the province on August 14, while sports competitions will be organised in all districts of Karachi on both national occasions.

Various activities are planned to promote patriotism, national unity and the significance of independence. In District Malir, competitions in self-defence, football, cricket, mixed martial arts, boxing and traditional games will be held, while Sindh Youth Club Gulistan-e-Jauhar will host mixed martial arts and judo events.

District Central Karachi will feature badminton, gymnastics and roller skating competitions, while events are also planned in Badin, Tando Allahyar, Dadu, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Qambar Shahdadkot, Tharparkar, Shikarpur and Jacobabad.
