Two cops injured in Peshawar IED blast

PESHAWAR:

Two police personnel were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast near a police mobile vehicle at Pir Zakori Bridge in Peshawar on Sunday, police said.

According to police officials, the blast occurred close to the police mobile vehicle, injuring two personnel. After the incident, CCPO Peshawar Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed visited the blast site within the limits of Gulbahar Police Station and reviewed the security situation and evidence collected from the scene.

Police officials said evidence had been collected from the site to determine the nature and motive behind the incident, while further investigations from different aspects were underway.

The CCPO also visited the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and met the injured personnel, driver constable Haider Ali and constable Yousuf, who were under treatment. He inquired about their health and directed the authorities to ensure the best medical care.

SSP Operations Farhan Khan was also present during the visit.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi strongly condemned the blast near the police mobile and expressed his wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured police personnel.

The governor sought an immediate report from the relevant authorities regarding the incident.

Kundi said elements working against peace would not succeed in their designs.

He said the sacrifices of police, law enforcement agencies and security forces would always be remembered by the nation.

He directed the authorities to ensure the best medical care to the injured, saying the government and the entire nation stood with the brave security personnel in the fight against terrorism.
