The Grammy-winning star is scheduled to conclude the Eternal Sunshine tour in London on Sept. 1 before temporarily stepping away from public-facing work. Her representative said Grande is looking forward to ending the tour "healthily and happily" after what has been a rewarding experience performing for fans around the world.

The decision comes amid continued public scrutiny surrounding the singer’s appearance and health. Discussions intensified following the release of her latest single, "Petal," and its accompanying music video, which sparked renewed online commentary about her body. Grande has previously addressed such criticism through her music, urging people not to comment on her physical appearance.

A source close to the singer told PEOPLE that Grande continues to perform at a high level throughout the physically demanding tour, describing the concerts as athletic performances that she has successfully completed night after night.

The break will also affect Grande’s upcoming projects. PEOPLE confirmed that she will no longer appear in the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George, where she had been expected to star alongside her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey. Despite stepping away from the production, the singer is said to be supportive of the creative team behind the show.

Following the tour, Grande is expected to focus on rest before returning to future projects, including the upcoming comedy film Focker-in-Law, which is scheduled for release later this year.
