Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Saturday inaugurated a newly constructed 1,800-metre dual carriageway from Khawaja Ajmer Nagri Chowrangi to Dedex Factory on Manghopir Road, a project officials said would ease traffic congestion and provide safer travel facilities to residents of the area.
Completed at a cost of more than Rs412 million, the modern road project was inaugurated in the presence of Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, KMC City Council members, elected representatives and a large number of local residents.
Addressing the ceremony, Wahab said the city administration was accelerating work on infrastructure development, road improvement, water supply and drainage projects to provide better municipal services to citizens.
He said the project included 10.25-metre-wide roads on both sides, along with modern medians, curb blocks, road markings, an efficient drainage system and other essential facilities.
Alongside the road project, he said a 700-metre-long, 48-inch diameter water supply line rehabilitation scheme had also been completed at a cost of Rs86.89 million.
