Savannah Guthrie makes plea as family 'begs for help' six months after mother's disappearance

Savannah Guthrie has issued a heartbreaking public appeal for help in finding her mother, Nancy Guthrie, six months after the 84-year-old was abducted from her Arizona home, saying her family's "hearts are in ruins" as they continue searching for answers.

In a lengthy Instagram post shared on August 1, the Today co-anchor described the devastating toll her mother's disappearance has taken on her family. "This is our beautiful Mom," Guthrie wrote. "Six months ago, someone took her out of her bed in the dead of night. We have lived every moment, every breath and every heartbeat in agony and despair ever since." She added that while the family tries to remain strong, "our hearts are in ruins".

The emotional plea came a day after the Pima County Sheriff's Department released the full text of two ransom notes linked to the investigation in the hope that someone might recognise the distinctive language or handwriting and provide a crucial lead. Authorities continue to treat the case as an active kidnapping investigation.

Guthrie urged anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward, reminding the public that tips can be submitted anonymously and that a reward remains available. Addressing those responsible for her mother's disappearance directly, she pleaded for them to reveal where Nancy is, writing that her family simply wants to bring her home.

Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on 1 February after investigators said she was abducted during the night. Surveillance footage captured a masked individual near the property, while evidence at the scene led authorities to conclude she did not leave voluntarily. Despite months of searches by local authorities and the FBI, no arrests have been made and Nancy has not been found.

Concluding her message, Savannah appealed to the public's compassion, saying the case is not entertainment but a family's real-life nightmare. She vowed that her family would never stop searching for Nancy, expressing hope that someone with vital information will finally come forward.
