Sunita Marshall, Hassan Ahmed discuss 18 years of marriage, matching clumsiness

Couple share funny mishaps, reflect on on-screen roles

Actors Sunita Marshall and Hassan Ahmed reflected on their 18-year marriage, discussing their mutual look on life and confessing that they shared the same clumsy nature.

In the couple's appearance on a comedy show, Ahmed said that understanding grows naturally with time, sharing his views on the union.

"If you take out the first eight to 10 years, after that you understand each other so well that you don't even have to ask why the other person is quiet. You also learn to ignore some faults," he said.

Ahmed also credited Sunita for altering his perspective on life. “She has taught me not to worry over every small issue and to avoid overthinking," the actor said.

The celebrity couple, who belong to two separate religious faiths, tied the knot in 2008. They had both an Islamic Nikkah and a ceremony in a Catholic church. They have since welcomed two children.

Recalling one incident from the early days of their marriage, Sunita said the couple were walking to a nearby shoot when Ahmed realised he had forgotten his sunglasses. Since he wanted to look "cool," he insisted on wearing them, despite Sunita repeatedly telling him there was no need because they would remove them inside the dark studio.

"As soon as I entered the studio, I turned around to tell him again to take them off," she recalled, adding, "The next thing I heard was a loud noise. He was lying on the floor."

The actor explained that the studio entrance had a small step down, and because Ahmed had walked straight from bright sunlight into a dimly lit room while wearing sunglasses, he failed to notice it and took a nasty fall.

Recalling another memorable incident, the couple shared that Sunita slipped coming down the stairs in their home. "She kept sliding down and just wouldn't stop," Ahmed recalled, sharing that instead of panicking, he burst into uncontrollable laughter. The actor added that he himself has fallen at least three times.

Further, he confessed that his clumsiness extended to driving. Ahmed recalled accidentally reversing his car straight into a drain while his father was sitting beside him. Looking at his father in shock, the actor stated he was met with an immediate scolding.

Ahmed also narrated a spooky incident from his younger days, sharing that he was driving home after studying with friends when he suddenly heard a sound and noticed what appeared to be a woman dressed in white.

The actor said that his car also started stalling and when he restarted it and looked in the rear-view mirror, the woman had mysteriously disappeared.

Frightened, he shared that he began reciting prayers and immediately called a friend to tell him what had happened. His friend humorously replied, "Wait, let me switch on my room lights first, then tell me."

Beyond clumsy moments, the couple also discussed the roles they have played on screen.

Ahmed shared that one of his most emotionally challenging roles was in Pinjra, involving a mother locking up her daughter, which affected him deeply. "I would never want to relive that character because it had a huge impact on my mind and heart," he said.

Sunita, on the other hand, shared that she was generally satisfied with the roles she has played, although many of them revolved around tragic storylines. "Still, I am very content with all the roles I have done but I wouldn't want to do them again because they were all tragic," the actor stated.

Further, Ahmed admitted that audiences often mistook him for the villains he has portrayed. "After playing so many negative characters, people start believing that is how you are in real life," he said.

The interview was filled with laughter and amusing confessions, giving fans a glimpse into why Sunita and Ahmed continue to be one of Pakistan's most beloved celebrity couples.

On the professional front, Sunita currently features in Maa and Rang De, while Ahmed most recently featured in Ishq Tum Se Hua. The couple have also shared the screen in several projects over the years, including Baby Baji, Mai Akeli, and Express Entertainment's Dayan.
