Over 33,500 to take MDCAT on Aug 16

The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for admissions to medical colleges across Sindh will be held on August 16, with more than 33,500 candidates expected to appear.
According to Sukkur IBA Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asif Sheikh, the test will be conducted under the Sukkur IBA Testing Service. Of the total candidates, 20,934 are female students while over 12,600 are male candidates.
Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) Vice Chancellor Dr Siraj Memon said that a total of 5,100 seats are available in the province for medical education, including 2,300 for MBBS and 2,800 for BDS, covering all quota allocations. He added that the responsibility for admissions this year has been assigned to JSMU.
In Karachi alone, 10,661 candidates will take the test, including 8,186 female and 2,475 male students. Other centres include Hyderabad with 9,470 candidates, Larkana with 3,066, Mirpurkhas with 2,067, Shaheed Benazirabad with 2,511, and Sukkur with 5,462 candidates. An additional centre has also been set up in Islamabad, where 300 candidates will appear. In Karachi, the test centre will be established at NED University, while arrangements have also been made for parents at a nearby banquet facility.
