ISLAMABAD:

The delimitation process for local government elections in the federal capital will formally commence on August 1 and is scheduled to conclude on October 13, 2026.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed the training of delimitation committees, while the Islamabad Deputy Commissioner has provided the required maps to facilitate the exercise.

The ECP has also finalised the draft Islamabad Local Government Conduct of Election Rules and forwarded its recommendations to the Ministry of Interior and the Chief Commissioner Islamabad.

It has urged the authorities to notify the rules without delay so that the printing of election materials and other administrative arrangements can proceed on schedule.

Officials said preparations for polling logistics and other operational requirements are also under way, and the Commission is fully prepared to hold the elections once the legal formalities are completed.
