Bugti vows relentless fight against terrorism

CM announces salary increase for CTD, SCIW staff, Rs150m for ATF Training School

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti on Friday reaffirmed the provincial government's unwavering resolve to eradicate terrorism, declaring that peace would prevail in Balochistan under all circumstances and that the state would never bow before extremist violence or allow any ideology to be imposed through the barrel of a gun.

Addressing the passing-out parade of the 20th Basic Training Course of the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF) at the ATF Training School in Quetta, the Chief Minister said the state's campaign against terrorism would continue with full determination. He stressed that while law-enforcement agencies would pursue terrorists relentlessly, the government remained committed to rehabilitating those willing to renounce violence and rejoin the national mainstream through education, healthcare, employment and social welfare programmes.

A total of 280 personnel, including three lady constables, successfully completed the rigorous training programme and showcased their professional skills and discipline during an impressive march-past. Chief Minister Bugti attended the ceremony as chief guest, while Inspector General of Balochistan Police Muhammad Tahir, senior police officials, instructors and other dignitaries were also present.

Congratulating the graduating personnel, the Chief Minister said they were assuming the vital responsibility of safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, maintaining public order and upholding the rule of law. He urged them to perform their duties with honesty, discipline, courage and dedication while preserving the honour of the police uniform and strengthening public trust in law-enforcement institutions.

Bugti paid glowing tribute to the sacrifices rendered by personnel of the Anti-Terrorist Force, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Balochistan Police and other security agencies, saying the nation would never forget the martyrs who laid down their lives in the fight against terrorism. He pledged that the government would continue confronting terrorism with unwavering resolve in honour of their sacrifices.

The Chief Minister warned that anti-state elements were attempting to mislead young people through propaganda and hatred. He stressed that national unity and solidarity were essential to defeating terrorism and urged political stakeholders not to politicise the issue of national security. He said criticism should never undermine the morale of security personnel who serve under extreme weather conditions and in dangerous terrain to protect the public.

Highlighting the growing role of women in law enforcement, Bugti praised the three graduating lady constables, describing them as role models who reflected the courage and commitment of Balochistan's women in serving the nation.
