Water dispute turns brutal

A woman was seriously injured after she was allegedly attacked with a dagger over a water dispute in Lower Dewal, Murree district.

According to the FIR registered at Phagwari Police Station, the injured woman, Nabeela Nisar, was on her way home when the suspect, Ishtiaq, son of Riaz, a resident of Lower Dewal, allegedly armed with a dagger, attacked her.

She sustained serious injuries to her arm, hand and fingers after repeated blows with the weapon. Hearing her cries, nearby people reached the spot and shifted her to hospital.

Sources said preliminary investigations suggested that the incident stemmed from a dispute over fetching water.
